Our two thoughtfully prepared Toddler House classrooms provide a warm, engaging space where the teaching approach, materials and curriculum, complement the Toddler’s fast-changing developmental age. The program supplements each child's innate desire to fulfill the basic human tasks of trust, motor skill engagement, independence, and self-control, as well as their sensitivity to acquisition of language. Toddlers explore their world to create an initial sense of self and are guided in daily life skills, discovering the joy of learning.
The beautifully prepared classrooms are designed to nurture the love of learning and bring out the unique innateness of each child. Multi sensory, hands on, self-correcting materials provide experiences from concrete to abstract. The curriculum teaches them about the world around them. Children are self directed and have freedom of movement, guided by a trained, observant Teacher. They gain concentration, coordination, independence, and a sense of order. Natural social interactions occur throughout the work period.
Our RIDE approved Kindergarten program focuses on teaching for understanding, rather than assignment completion. Montessori Kindergarten is recognized by experts on Early Childhood & Elementary Education as the most developmentally appropriate education model available. Beyond achieving, and often exceeding standards of academic success for entering first grade, we focus on building the independence, confidence, and curiosity that sets the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Montessori saw Kindergarten as the culmination of the preschool years, not the start of elementary school.
