Tehya’s memories from her time at MGB stuck with her, helping to guide her through middle school, high school, and now as she pursues a degree in Engineering from CCRI. Tehya is happy to be back at MGB and loves seeing the children’s same love for Montessori.
Her experience with young children ranges from babysitting for children six and under to mentoring younger children at The Compass School.
Tehya lives in South Kingstown. When she’s not at MGB or attending class, you can find her having campfires with friends, kayaking or paddle boarding in the summer, and traveling to new places.

Currently attending CCRI for Early Childhood Education, Ms. Palmer joins the Toddler room this year as a Co-Teacher. For eight years, Shakiyla has worked with children ranging from six weeks to 12 years old in licensed Early Childhood Programs.
The Montessori way was something Shakiyla embraced once she discovered that the method helps children “lead the way to their own paths with the guidance and protection of those who love them.”
Shakiyla is a dedicated mother of three children - two girls, and one boy - ages three, 10, and 12. A lifelong North Kingstown resident, when Shakiyla is not in the classroom, she dedicates her time to making fun-loving memories with her children.

Ms. Rubenstein joined the Toddler team as a Co-Teacher in March 2024. Liz is currently attending Rhode Island College for Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Community Programs B-5. After she completes her degree, Liz plans to become a Montessori-certified teacher.
Liz was drawn to Montessori because it aligns with her philosophy. She loves the overall feeling of the prepared environment and the mutual respect.
Residing in Providence RI, Liz is an avid horse rider, visiting and riding her horse in Rehobeth, MA, multiple times each week (she previously taught horseback riding to children ages 4-13). In her spare time, Liz loves drawing and painting, especially with watercolors.
